All in under 6 months too, and the time really has flown. Not that I’m trying to brag about it, mind you, but I’m happy that I’ve reached my first goal with this blog (i.e. getting to 200 posts by the end of March) nevertheless.
To all those who’ve visited the blog and read one or more of its entries, I give my thanks. Even if I’ve only helped one or two people think twice before taking the same rash actions that I’ve taken in my lifetime, I consider my job to be done.
However, this blog is far from done. I’m in this thing for the long haul, and I have no intention of being stopped or censored. Not even by that no good, arch conservative, mollycoddling son of a bitch Stephen Conroy, to whom freedom of speech still seems to be a dangerous concept.
Got him! Yes! It’s all happening!
March 30, 2009
All Bill Lawry gags aside, it looks like things are cranking up on the jobs front. Even though I didn’t get to do any canvassing today (as I’d hoped to do), my job interview skills are continuing to recover, and now I’ve chosen to be put forward for a 2-week business services course being run in conjunction with the Lyell McEwin Hospital in the second half of next month.
Considering that the hospital itself is looking for more people to fill their Casual Clerical Pool, I hope this can lead me straight into work there. In light of my past experience at the Repat, it’d be a perfect fit for me, so wish me luck with that.
Meanwhile, my next session of canvassing will occur a week from Wednesday, so it really IS all happening!
My favourite version of Rumble/Frenzy….
March 29, 2009
Yes, this is a Transformers-themed post, and I haven’t done one of these for ages, so bear with me!
A number of years ago, I learnt that there was a third colour variation of Micross, the New Microman MicroChange toy that would become both Rumble and Frenzy in the Transformers line. Here it is:

As the blog title states, it’s my favourite redeco of the toy, and considering that a number of the original Autobot and Decepticon mini cassettes are being reissued in 4-figure sets in the Transformers Encore line in Japan, I’d love to see this little guy released as a new Decepticon character. I reckon Replay (pronounced “ri-pu-re” in Japanese) would be a perfect name for him, and considering E-Hobby’s penchant for selling new Transformers characters based on old MicroChange and Diaclone colour schemes, I reckon placing him in a set with three classic Decepticon tapes would be the way to go.
*Hopes E-Hobby and TakaraTomy take the hint
*
I love it when things go to plan! :-)

I was gratified to see baby Ariel back in action at the Horse last night, though she was still in a bit of pain from her neck injury, and I found out that her upper back and left shoulder were also affected.
The real cause of it all, though, was calling “Ruth!” after having some bad mussels a number of weeks ago, thus making me grateful that I don’t eat them myself. (In any case, Ariel’s much tastier. Mwahahahahahaa!™
)
After having Ariel for a dance, I then proceeded to The Palace, touching base with Ivy and Sienna and enjoying the private dancing of Jagger and Rose. And upon finding out that April 8th would be Sienna’s last night before taking a 2½ week break for Easter, I decided to schedule my next visit accordingly.
Let’s hope that Sienna’s wearing her Baywatch-style swimsuit again on the night, and since I’m overdue to have Amy again, I hope to catch her on that same night too.
Buns, guts and jugs make a woman great! :-)

I know the hardcore feminists are going to be pissed about a title such as that, but anyone who says that it’s a misogynistic statement could not be more wrong if they tried.
The truth is that I absolutely love women, especially those women who take pride in their appearance (especially the abovementioned parts of their anatomy), personality and overall well being. If I didn’t love women, I wouldn’t even go to places such as The Palace or the Crazy Horse, and I probably would’ve been branded a poof and disowned by certain members of my family.
It’s ironic, therefore, that the Horse is still run by the openly gay Joseph Farrugia (aka Madame Josephine). I remember Darrin Hyde providing me with a funny analogy for the situation – i.e., that it’s akin to a member of the Ku Klux Klan running a hip hop club in Harlem – and getting it so right. (BTW, salutations to you if you’re reading this, Darrin, and I hope you enjoyed last night’s The Who concert.
)
Naturally, I plan to be at the strip clubs either tonight or tomorrow night, depending on little Ariel’s whereabouts. In the meantime, a hearty lunch at Adelaide’s last remaining Pizza Hut restaurant (as opposed to the delivery-only stores) awaits me today. Provided that their soft serve ice cream dispenser’s not on the blink, of course.
Nine Gold, eh?
March 26, 2009
To be perfectly honest, I’m unsure what to make of the latest TV Tonight article regarding the Nine Network.
I recall PBL co-owning an Indian TV channel, under the Nine Gold banner (complete with Dotty as well), a number of years back, though the idents for it are no longer on YouTube. That said, certain people on a certain site are dismissing it as rumour-mongering.
However, I remember what the Indian Nine Gold logo looked like, and I can tell you the the lettering of “GOLD” is definitely different in the picture presented on TV Tonight. So it may be possible that this will be the branding of the Nine Network’s second Standard Definition channel when it launches later in the year.
And even if it is, will the new SD channel be seen in Adelaide and Perth minus the unsightly coverups that WIN Television have imposed on their Nine stations over the last year or so? Whatever the truth may be, I’ll try to take all of this with a pinch of salt…. for now.
So far, so good. :-)

While this morning’s mock interview was better than the previous one, there’s still room for improvement on my part, and the canvassing today went very well. Let’s hope that it opens a few new doors for me, and at any rate, it looks like I’ll be doing it all again this coming Monday. Naturally, I look forward to that with great interest.
Speaking of things to look forward to, I’m also hoping the ICW show I’ll be attending on April 17th will be a good one. And even though the scenario I’m about to suggest isn’t going to happen on the night, it would be funny to watch anyhow, and that scenario is this: a comeback by “The Lethal Weapon” Steve Blackman.
If that happened, and he and Al Snow brought back their “Head Cheese” gimmick from WWE’s Attitude era, I’m sure any fans in the crowd who enjoyed it way back then would mark out for it once more. I know I would!
I shall be quite busy tomorrow….
March 24, 2009
Not only have I got a mock interview at Interwork on the cards tomorrow morning (to make up for my lacklustre showing last week), but I’ll be spending most of the day canvassing for suitable jobs with one of the staff. So naturally, I’m betting that something good – or even great – will come out of this, such as a long-term position.
Of course, if a new job is on the cards on account of tomorrow’s efforts, it wouldn’t be a moment too soon. Nearly ten months out of work is no fun at all, even though I’m trying to make the best of the situation, and considering that the financial predicament on the home front is expected to take a turn for the worse from July, I’m keen to find work before then.
So wish me luck for tomorrow, folks, and I’ll report on my progress tomorrow night.
Two weeks? Better make it one.
March 23, 2009
You guessed it, folks: I’ve flipped my lucky coin again, and since it came up with heads, I’m going to try and see baby Ariel again this weekend. As I’ve said (too many times) before, my continued patronage of The Crazy Horse Revue depends on her continued presence there, and I think it’s best for all parties if I knew the score sooner rather than later.
Naturally, I’m hoping for the best case scenario, which is that it’s just a muscle spasm – similar to the one I had in my lower back last year – that would only require 3-4 weeks of recovery time and some strong painkillers (it’s been almost 4 weeks now, if I’m not mistaken).
But there’s still the worst case scenario, i.e. that the damage may be great enough to require surgery, which could potentially (and prematurely) end Ariel’s exotic dance career. And I sure as hell don’t want a very successful relationship such as this to be cut short under such circumstances.
A very surprising YouTube find…. ;-)
March 22, 2009
When I performed a Google search using these keywords – “crazy horse” “hindley street” – I was most surprised to see this video in the results:
Naturally, I remember seeing these old Crazy Horse commercials in my high school and university days, as I’d often have a good deal of homework to finish or Star Trek incarnations to watch at that time of the night. Seeing this one again, though, has stirred up a few thoughts about the club.
But before I share these thoughts, there’s something I need to get off my chest: I feel that the airing of Best Undressed on SBS last month – along with the dedication to John Monaghan at the end of it – has relieved me of any obligation to keep the news about his untimely death to myself. Nearly half a million other Australians now know about this as a result (provided they watched it all the way to the end, of course), and for the record, I first heard about his tragic passing from someone at The Palace late last year, and not at the Horse.
Which leads me into the first thought: since the Horse’s founding father is no longer with us, I feel that this very fact alone places a dark cloud over the future of the club. I’d heard in the past that John Monaghan had been looking to sell the Horse for a few years, but a number of offers fell through, and the Hustler Club scenario I’d suggested on this very blog a number of months ago hasn’t come to pass either. So I’ll continue to take certain rumours with a pinch of salt and see what happens.
Secondly, I’m reminded that the Horse is no longer in a position to advertise on TV, and hasn’t done so since the mid-to-late ’90s. In recent years, radio advertising has become the club’s only viable option, and having witnessed the downward spiral personally (i.e. many girls leaving in quick succession, decreasing numbers of customers, more violent incidents occurring etc.), it’s not hard to see why. So I’m concerned that if the club is not sold to the right people, or if the senior management continues to show a devil-may-care attitude, I feel that things will only deteriorate further.
And finally, it makes me think about the one person who keeps me going to the Horse; the lovely Ariel Green. I still don’t know how severe her recent neck injury was, but I hope to know the score in a little under two weeks from now, and in the meantime, I’m still positive that I’ll continue to enjoy her company for a while yet.
